Oula in the garage was born when the gyms closed down due to Covid. The heated garage space with turf is owned by my friend Sheila. Who couldn’t stand to live without dancing. It is her sanity, like most of us and she was willing to do anything to help keep it going. She opened her home and business space for us to continue to dance. She had her husband pull out equipment and 4 wheelers every day that we danced there. She invited our kids to join us because most of us our moms. Sheila had her teenagers babysit and feed our kids snacks while we danced. The kids loved the opportunity to play and the moms loved to have our time again. One evening a girl ran out of gas on her way and Sheila’s husband drove to save the day. She missed dancing that night but that man deserves the husband of the year award. It is people like this that make life easier during this weird time and this family is pretty awesome.
Like dancing in the park this summer, dancing in the garages gave our community and opportunity for those who wanted to continue to connect and dance together to do so. The others who didn’t feel safe we streamed on an app and they could still be there in a way. We are all truly making it by with what we can. I was able to download the videos from class to my phone and I thought it was a perfect opportunity to share our people with the whole community. Thank you Sheila, Wade and the kids!!
